Probably Not: In my experience patients are most comfortable when pain-free and sleeping through this procedure. Surgeons can then concentrate on the complexities of their craft, minimize surgical time and be free to communicate only with their surgical team of anesthesiology providers and nurses.

Yes: Local anesthesia is perfectly reasonable in a cooperative patient.

Possibly: A limited skin only breast lift can be performed under local, very few patients would be good candidates for this type of lift. Most patients would be better served having a breast lift under general anesthesia. Consult a board certified plastic surgeon. http://www.dassmd.com/breast-enhancements/index.html.

Talk to MD: Some plastic surgery procedures can be performed with just local anesthesia. However for this one i think you would prefer some sedation.

Hi, most likely not. A breast lift procedure involves incisions and usually takes around 2 hours to complete. The length of time of the surgery depends on which technique is used. So, it’s best if the patient is totally unconscious during the operation with general anesthesia. This way, the surgeon can remove the excess breast tissue without the patient feeling anything.
