Neutral products : Try to use neural tasting tooth past that has no extreme taste like spicy peppermint or fruity flavors, rinse frequently and take deep breath during brushing. Also use a tongue scraper, it help tame down the taste buds to less gage reflexes. Hope it help.

Gag reflex: Some of the things you can do : try to eat before you brush- i find that it helps to decrease gagging; scraping your tongue before brushing and try to use non-minty toothpastes.
