Why do i gag every morning when i brush my teeth?

Gag reflex: It's called the gag reflex. It's caused by something touching the tissues far back in your mouth such as the soft palate and uvula. It's a normal mechanism to keep you from choking on something. It's perfectly normal and just something you have to deal with when brushing. I also gag badly every time i brush..I've learned to live with it.

It's just you: Many people have very hypersensitive gag reflexes first thing in the morning. Including myself. As the day wears on and your mouth is used more, you don't gag as much. What you could try is use a mouthwash with alcohol before you brush. Swish first and perhaps this will "dull" your gag reflex.
