Gagging: Perhaps the difflam spray isn't helping. It is prescribed for sore throat which you didn't complain of. I would discontinue it.There are exercises to reduce overactive gag reflex and specifically reduce gagging when brushing your teeth. Google " exercises to reduce hypersensitive gag reflex".
