Serosanguineous: Serosanguineous is usually a term that is applied to a surgical wound in the post-operative period. Literally a mixture of blood (sanguineous) and serous fluid (blood without red cells). It is common post-operative finding in areas that would continue to collect blood after the surgery is complete. The blood breaks down (the serous fluid). It is usually not serious and simple aspiration treats it.

Serosanguinous fluid: Serosanguinous fluid: contains/relates to both blood and the liquid part of blood (serum). To better understand Serosanguinous drainage, it helps to know the components of blood: RBCs WBCs platelets plasma. Drainage can be water thin with a light red/pink tinge, or a clear appearance & depends on how much clotted red blood is mixed with serum. Thick drainage could suggest infection. See your doc-
