Hand washing: Colds are commonly spread by a hand to nose, eye or mucous membrane contact. Someone sneezes in hand opened a door and the puts the virus on the knob. you come open the door getting it on your hand later you rub your eyes and the virus now in in you. This basic scenario. Hand washing frequently helps. You may have an infection now so if fever develops see your physician
