Yes, but not major: Crest strips are a good product for minor whitening, however, open cavities, teeth with exposed dentin or sensitive teeth may all react negatively with pain to the strips. The whitening strips will lighten your teeth and leave the old restorations their original darker shade causing a undesirable esthetic effect.

Doubtful: The most common problem with whitening products is that you may have an existing/untreated cavity in a tooth, a mouth ulcer or sore or undiagnosed soft tissue inflammation in the mouth or throat all of which can be aggravated by the use of the oxidizing component which usually is free oxygen from a peroxide compound.

Risks of Whitening: Hey there... Whitening can occasionally cause temperature sensitivity. Especially if teeth have exposed root structure or wear through the enamel on the biting surface of the tooth, or if the tooth is cracked or has tooth decay. One should always have a hygiene visit with their Dentist prior to starting a whitening program. Clean teeth with no stain whiten better as well.

Dental bleach only: Suggest dental dispensed and monitored bleaching only for the best results, not a strip that whitens only the front six teeth.
