Hard to know: Left upper quadrant pain often poses difficulty in diagnosis. Things that live there are the kidney and tubes from the kidney, the spleen and the bowel. The ribs themselves can be a problem as could pneumonia. If not immediately relieve with otc pain meds, simple dietary changes and GI meds, then seek care soon.
