Scars heal in a year: The healing process is pretty uniform for the first 6 to 12 weeks. After that there are ways to improve the appearance of a heal;ing scar. Pressue on the scar has been shown to decrease the risk of scars raising up above the normal skin. Medications can be injected into the scar and in severe scars/keloids, radiation is sometimes used. The scar is healed when it is no longer red in color.
