A member asked:

Will the scars from the omphalocele surgery ever heal?

Will get lighter: Scars are often most visible immediately after the surgery. They then go through a long process of healing and becoming less visible. Over time the scar will become less raised, less red and will begin to blend in more with the surrounding skin. Even keloid (the red raised scars) will begin to fade over time. Be sure to keep them out of the sun and put sunscreen all over the area when outside.

Not completely: Although scars in newborns can fade dramatically they do not completely heal.

Yes: Scars do heal. They are the result of healing process. Will they ever disappear, not likely.
