Can watching tv as an infant lead to brain damage?

No: It can take away time that a baby should be spending exploring his environment and learning how to communicate. I would not recommend tv time for infants.

It doesn't cause: Brain damage that's visible on mri, but it delays language development prior to age 2, with the degree of delay related to time spent viewing before 18 months. The american academy of pediatrics recommends no tv/ videos till age 2, then a max of 2 hrs/ day. Studies were done at uw when baby einstein videos were hyped. Socially interactive language, play & reading are important. See www.Aap.Org.
