Play Basketball!: This sport requires sustained endurance, aerobic fitness and strength (of all major muscle groups including the core). The "simple" act of playing and practicing will improve your fitness on all three of these levels. Many players also hit the gym or follow in-home workout dvds to supplement with drills that help in all sorts of competitive athletics.

Time and drills: Pick a time of 20-30 minutes to do this. Start with dribbling at a walk, then faster, then almost all out sprint, --do for 30 - 60 seconds. Continue dribbling at a slow jog -keeping heart rate up - and repeat 8 - 10 times. Then do layups slowly, then faster. 10 left, 10 right, x 3 sets. You still are moving. Practice more dribbling , only, at different speeds - 5 minutes.Continue cycle until time up.
