A member asked:

I have the mother of a pt that states she's getting her period q2-3 weeks (she's 53yo) when they used to be regular every month. is this her menopause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Peri menopause : It is common pattern for some women that the periods go from regular to closer together as she gets closer to menopause. This is due to shortening of the luteal phase from diminishing Progesterone levels. However when a woman her age gets irregular menses occasionally she gets endometrial hyperplasia so i'd recommend an endometrial biopsy.
