May be Muscular pain: Most probably, the mild chest pain near the sternum might be a muscular pain. Muscular pain may increase with movement of the muscles involved. Tenderness on applying pressure in the involved area is one of the most common symptoms. Sneezing or taking deep breaths can exacerbate the pain. The other possibility is sternal fracture. Please go to the er and consult your pcp, since CP is very serious.

Musculoskeletal: It sounds like you are having either muscle aches or joint pain of your sternum. The breast bone has lots of joints associated with it and they can become inflammed just like other joints. This is usually treated with an anti inflammatory medicine. Your doctor should be able to get you the right medication after examining you.
