My cholesterol ttl 76;hdl 49;ldl 22; trig 22.i'm obese; was in the process of being approved for gb surg.liver function low; scheduled for ultrasound. need ideas please?

More info needed: Cholesterol parameters appear favorable. Unclear what you mean by liver function low. Sometimes the liver function tests are elevated, and since you noted you are obese, liver ultrasound occasionally done to evaluate for fatty liver or other liver cause for aberrant liver values.

TC 76 is NG: Your total cholesterol is much too low! are you taking meds to acheive this? Are you malnourished? Do you have severe liver disease?

Causes of low LDL: Low LDL and total cholesterol can have many causes. If with diarrhea, can be from deficiency in enzyme called mtp, or called abetalipoprotinemia. This usually is also associated with low levels of vitamins a, d, e, and k, and can be easily tested for. Low production of apob or pcsk9 & can be another cause, and is associated with a low risk for heart disease. See a lipid specialist. www.lipid.org.
