Depends: Unless you have advanced kidney failure or a previous reaction to MRI contrast, the MRI contrast is considered very safe.

It is safe: The incidence of nsf is approx 1 in 1, 000, 000. The chance of crossing the street and being hit and killed by a car is 1 in 60000. So it is about 15 times safer than crossing the street. I agree that you do need to have your kidney function evaluated but most doctors do not know that you can use Eovist if your creatinine is slightly elevated. Can also be used at 1/2 dose if the scanner is 3t.
