A member asked:

With a cerebral mrv scan, do they generally take an mri sequence of the whole brain too? usually? i was scanned first and then later contrast dye was given. or does this scan only ever image the veins?

Typically, MRI images with and without contrast would be employed to evaluate venous sinus abnormalities. MRA specifies arterial circulation, MRV venous circulation. Request a discussion with the radiologist to ascertain what studies were performed and of course, the outcome.

Hello. The protocol will depend on the institution. Usually, however, many places will run some basic MRI sequences of the brain, especially when they are giving contrast. You would have to check with the facility.
