Maybe: Sunshine and brightness is known to perk up mood and relieve depression; and vice versa. Gloomy days bring in sadness as is also linked with the acth release from the pituitary hypothalamus neuro axis and if exposed to proper sunlight daily in am, can work miracles on the homeostasis and milieu interior!

Seasonal affective: Classic answer is sad, seasonal affective disorder; lower light exposure during the winter months can cause depressed mood. It usually happens over the course of weeks though, not just on single days; regardless, that sort of light therapy may help!
