Too early.: Ultrasound will often not be able to see a pregnancy at 5 weeks. Assuming no worrisome symptoms or signs, you should wait until a routine dating ultrasound at 8 to 12 weeks. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Safe but early: Most fertility doctors like to an ultrasound early, typically to rule out an ectopic pregnancy, and follow ultrasounds until 8 weeks to catch a potential miscarriage early. These ultrasounds are safe but unlikely to be useful before your beta levels reach about 2000.
