Meds: Unfortunately of you really have the bacterial infection you need antibiotics to fully take care of it. If you had a swab of your throat and it wa positive you have a bacterial infection. Depending on where you i've there are programs at pharmacies that have really cheap or even free antibiotics. You should try to find out where these are at do you can get treated.

Sore vs strep: The majority of sore throats are viral and symptoms of both viral & strep will resolve without treatment. You only know you have strep if you invested the time and effort to have it tested. If you chose not to be tested or find a free clinic for evaluation, your general risk of strep complications if it is strep run about 1/200.
