Why ?: Many sore throats are viral & will self heal. Proper treatment of strep requires confirmation, which a simple office test can do in under 5 min. Antibiotics without confirmation is poor medical practice and one reason for all the super bugs we are now dealing with. You can always just ignore it. It will gradually improve, if strep you'll pass it to others & have 1/200 risk of complications.
