Not related: Polymyalgia (i'm assuming rheumatica) isn't classically associated with any cell line abnormalities, especially one requiring transfusion (red cells). It sounds like there may be a second cause for the need for transfusion, be it a production problem (malfunctioning bone marrow) or a loss problem (bleed).
