Yes: There are infectious and non-infectious risks with blood transfusion. The risk of HIV & hepatitis transmission is less than 1 in 1.5 million. However, there are more common risks, including wrong blood type given, modulation of immune system, minor allergic reactions, low-grade fever, rashes, fluid in the lungs and bacterial infections to name a few.
