Mucus in the throat?: White secretion in the back of the throat is usually due to sinus drip - mucus produced in the sinus cavities in the bone inside your cheeks - the drip comes down on the back of the throat. More often than not, this is due to a virus or an exposure to allergens. If there is pain when you swallow, please see your doctor.

Many possibilities: Depending on the area of the throat, it can be many different things. Most people see their tonsils when they look in their throat, if this is the case you may have tonsillitis or tonsil stones. See your physician for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
