Yes, : Smoking can irritate the surface of the eyes and also cause the tear film to evaporate causing a state of dry eye. When the eyes dry out, the corneal surface can break down causing pain. So give up smoking, use artificial tears, and buy a humidifier and this may alleviate some of the pain. Better yet, make an appointment to see an eye md and they will help diagnose and treat your condition.
