Will not go blind.: Most likely your doctor meant pseudoexfoliation which affects your whole body in general. In the eye its been known to increase your risk during cataract surgery to have a dislocation of the intraocular lens due to weakened zonules. This condition will not lead to blindness.

Exfoliation syndrome: Exfoliation syndrome increases the risk of glaucoma and slightly increases the risks related with cataract surgery. Otherwise, it is nothing to be scared about. She just needs continued followup with an eye doctor. If she develops signs of early glaucoma or significan cataract, these issues can be treated.
