Intermittent pains: Can be very hard to sort out. Since it comes and goes it is unlikely to be serious, but you may want to get a formal opinion if your are worried.

Sounds meniscal: It concerns me that you get intermittent symptoms i would get an orthopedic exam you might need an MRI to get to the source of the pain.
