For diagnosis...: If you have a cough productive of sputum and it is associated with a high fever and/or shortness of breath, a doctor should be seen for diagnosis and treatment. If you have mild symptoms that are improving over time, see a doctor if your symptoms are not completely resolved within 10 days. If your symptoms are worsening, you need to be seen.
