A member asked:

My kid has had a loud cough for about a week. no fever. when should i go see my doctor? could it be bronchitis? how would i know?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Viral or allergic: Bronchitis in children is common and almost always caused by a virus, an extension of the virus that caused a cold. Asthmatic bronchitis is also a possibility. Medications are not particularly helpful for viral bronchitis but can help asthma, so if the cough is not improving, he/she should see a pediatrician.
