No prep veneers : Lumineers are a brand name of a minimal to no-prep teeth veneer system that provides a permanent white, straight smile. If teeth are moderately misaligned, clear or traditional braces may be prescribed to better align teeth before lumineers. Careful case selection is imperative for outstanding results.

Porcelain: Lumineers is a brand name for a specific kind of porcelain veneer, like kleenex is a specific brand of tissue paper. They are made of a material called cerinate and in my hands i find them very opaque and dead looking especially with made ultra thin. Their second generation is better. They were the first to aggressively market to the general public and increase awareness to esthetic dentistry.
