I have a tooth infection i'm taking hydrocodon and penicillin. for two days now. how soon til my jaw swelling goes away? so i can pull the tooth.

Soon, but...: Penicillins can take 1-2 days to really kick in and start to reduce infection and swelling. You should see improvement soon. If you are not getting better, you should go back to the dentist who gave you the prescription. They may need to switch you to a different medication.

Consider:: Some tooth infections will never settle down without actually removing the tooth. Coordinate treatment with your dentist to "close the loop" and resolve the problem completely.

Remove tooth : You should have the tooth removed as soon as possible. The best way to eliminate the infection is to eliminate the cause of the infection. It is a common myth that you need to wait for the swelling to resolve. See your dentist or oral surgeon asap!
