Dry Socket: Dry socket tends to come during the first week after surgery. After 7 days if you have not had symptoms you are not likely to get a dry socket. However, if you are having pain, please return to your dentist for a follow up evaluation.

What is question?: If you are asking what causes a dry socket, the answer is that they are the result of the rejecdtion of a blot clot which is necessary to stimulate the bone to fill in. Smoking, alcohol, and sucking through a straw (negative pressure) can dislodge clots, but unless you have a blood problem, seven days should be an adequate amount of time to function normally.
