A member asked:

Can you use hyaluronic acid injections for meniscal injuries?

No: Hyaluronic acid (ha) injections (aka viscosupplementation) are indicated for arthritis, not meniscal tears. Normal joint fluid (synivial fluid) is made of hyaluronic acid and gets thinner in arthritic knees. Ha made for injections is more "viscous" and is meant to "supplement" the natural synovial fluid in arthritic knees to decrease pain and stiffness. It's not indicated for other knee problems.

No help for meniscus: Hyaluronic acid (ha) is currently only indicated in the knee for the treatment of certain degrees of osteoarthritis (oa). Viscosupplementation has become increasingly popular over the past two decades. The indications will continue to evolve as more clinical studies are completed.
