Sometimes: In young healthy people the stress on the heart, brain and muscles can be tolerable. Older people develop af, osteoporosis, etc. We think the natural course of graves' is for it to resolve and lead to hypothyroidism - but this assumption is based on observations from the 19th century 'till before the early 1930s - when we began to interfere with the natural course of the disease by treatments.
