No: The is no special preparation for the study. It is preferable for the study to be done in the first part of the menstral cycle. Between day 1 and day 20 this decreases breast activity and vascularity.

No, but read below.: The only preparation-remove metal items. A few conditions will effect whether or not to have the mri. Generally not recommended if pregnant (not known what the effect of the injected agent gadolinium has on the fetus.) although probably safe to continue breast feeding, the option of pumping for 24 hours after the procedure may be preferred . Kidney disease may preclude the study.
