They can be related: It is possible that they are effecting each other. I would recommend a consultation with your dentist and possibly and ENT to identify the causes of the problem. Tinnitus (ear ringing) can be a very troubling problem that can be treated. So can tm problems. You will need to have both types of special doctors help you.

It is very possible: Tinnitus may be caused by of course a variety of otologic problems, and a bunch of other causes such as neurologic disorders, allergies, blood pressure problems, tumors, diabetes, thyroid problems, and a number of medications. TMJ & Tinnitus: Tmj dysfunction can absolutely cause tinnitus (ringing in the ears). You should seek a consult with a dentist specializing in TMJ disorders so that you can be properly evaluated; if a TMJ problem is found, an orthotic can be fabricated which will help eliminate your symptoms.

Yes and no: TMJ patients have ear symptoms, subjective hearing loss, ringing, stuffiness. When the ear is actually tested, findings are usually normal. You may need to see an ENT doc to check your ear out.
