Not like dementia: We describe psychomotor retardation, where both physical and cognitive activity is inefficient and slowed. Attention wanders, and focus and concentration is blunted. Enthusiasm wanes due to anhedonia, and energy drops, so that stamina seems lost. Can do testing and find normal memory and analytical skills, but all is slowed and very scattered due to emotional overlay.

Negative thinking: Poor concentration, attention deficits, obsessive rumination, negative thoughts, suicidal thoughts, etc. Practicing meditation and dropping depressing thoughts in conjunction with psychotherapy and medication can help.
