Yes, it can help!: Studies show that for certain patients, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (mbct) can reduce relapse rates in depression. Usually mbct is added to "treatment as usual" with medications & ongoing psychotherapy, because mbct is an 8-week skills training program providing tools and practice, rather than being a stand-alone treatment. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=20462570.
