Could be: The signs and symptoms of UTI in young infant are often nonspecific, e.g., fever, vomiting. Poor feeding, irritability, and weight loss. Foul odored urine associated with any of symptoms described above deserve further work-up.

Hydration/workup: I agree that this may indicate a bladder infection. Another reason may be that she is dehydrated. I would suggest reviewing her feedings with your pediatrician and asking about supplemental formula.

Probably not: Strong urine in a 6 week old is more likely decreased fluid intake and a relative dehydration. Have her pediatrician evaluate and weigh her. Also, feel the top of her head, if the soft spot seems sunken down while she is lying comfortably. She may be dehydrated.

Pee smells, and few of us pay much attention to it.If you sense that the amount or type of odor has changed it may be important.When infants develop a UTI it often means there is a structural problem with the urinary tract. These are often not easily detected until they show up as a UTI in the first months after birth.
