Xray/CT: Appropriately performed x-rays can detect hip retroversion. Can also be identified on CT/MRI. This is relevant in patients with hip pain and suspected impingement. Focal acetabular retroversion or relative over-coverage by anterior rim of acetabulum is thought to contribute to pincher impingement and labral damage over time. This can be corrected with arthroscopic or open surgery.
