No.: Thyroid replacement is indicated only if the thyroiditis causes hypothyroidism. This may take years to develop and the thyroid antibody levels are markers for the disease, and poorly correlate with disease activity. The disease is mediated by t-lymphocytes, not the antibodies. You simply need a TSH and free-t3 drawn to make sure you are not hypothyroid!
