A member asked:

I get 8 hours of sleep but in class i constantly fall asleep; i do no strenuous work. what could be the problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Daytime somnolence: Daytime fatigue may be the result of poor restful sleep seen in patients with sleep apnea and restless legs. However, medications, endocrine disorders (diabetes and hypothyroidism) anemias, infections, seizures, autoimmune, and electrolyte disorders can affect sleep. A comprehensive history, exam and select diagnostic test can be completed by doctor to screen for possible undiagnosed illness.
