Prenatal vitamins: No prescription medications are needed for a normal pregnancy. We recommend a daily prenatal vitamin with Folic Acid & calcium supplement. Women with anemia will be given additional iron. Other prescription medications are reserved for specific medical problems. Your doctor can give you a list of over-the-counter medications that are safe to take for symptoms that come up during pregnancy.

Prenatal: Folic acid is very important during pregnancy for your baby's development. There are usually no other medications prescribed for a healthy mother with a routine pregnancy. There are specific antibiotics and pain medications that are safe to use during pregnancy but should only be used with your doctors recommendation.
