TUR: Transurethral resection is the surgical/urologic method to remove tissue from the lower urinary tract (usually prostate or bladder) using specialized telescopic instruments. These instruments are placed through the urethra to reach the desired tissue. Electrical energy is passed through wire "loops" that shave the tissue into small pieces that can be removed through the telescopic channel.
