Computed Tomography: Ct stands for computed tomography which means that it is a special type of x-ray picture that can show slices of the body. Rather than a simple x-ray that can only tell air, bones, and fluid, a ct scan shows much greater detail. It has revolutionized diagnostic radiology. Chest refers to the area of the body covered by the scan. The machine is donut shaped.
