Tooth Decay: If the tooth has an abscess then you could get pain towards the cheek. You will need an x-ray to determine what is wrong. See your dentist for an examination.

Several possibilitie: It could be a cavity, staining in a pit, a tarnished amalgam(silver) filling, calculus or something else. Your best bet is to have a dentist determine what it is. If it's been awhile since your last dental check-up, you would be due for an exam and cleaning anyway.
