Fifth disease?: 5th disease (also called erythema infectiosum), which is a viral illness common in kids aged 5-15. The red rash on the face is usually distinctive making a child appear to have a "slapped cheek." the rash then spreads to the trunk, arms, & legs. It starts with a low-grade fever, headache, & mild cold-like symptoms. Then the illness seems to be gone until a rash appears a few days later.
