Itchy Rash: Itchy red rash on this young toddler may indicate a form of contact dermatitis. Some children may precede with a red rash to their extremities as a sign of a viral infection . I suggest you inform your child's pediatrician. I would also suggest you check child's temperature and look at other areas on the body for rash and child's oral cavity for sores or inflammation.

Maybe viral: Could be the start of a viral illness The enteroviruses, including the coxsackieviruses cause s rash that includes tender blisters in the mouth and tongue as well as on the palms and soles of the hands and the feet. Occasionally the rash will also occur on the buttocks or the genital area. Young children have a general feeling of being ill (malaise) and are often cranky with a depressed appetite
