Untrue: Deafness is a very uncommon symptom of a thyroid goiter. In fact, I have not seen someone with goiter causing deafness.

Not a likely cause: There are forms of hearing loss that can have associated thyroid abnormalities, pendred's syndrome is an example, however a goiter is not a cause for hearing loss. A goiter is caused by alterations in the way the thyroid gland is functioning. Changes in the bodies immune system and vitamin d metabolism could effect both the thyroid and hearing, but the thyroid gland is not source of hearing loss.
