Not the headphones: Using the headphones at very high volume might cause noise induced hearing loss, though. Volumes produced by the headphones that produce a ringing in the ears after the noise is over can produce permanent hearing loss, as well as exposures to other sources of noise (lawnmowers, jet engines, loud concerts, etc.) noises are additive, non-occluding headphones while being exposed to noise, for example.
